what if Your body is disrupting your life because you aren’t listening to it?
*your body when
you ignore it*
Imagine trying to calmly tell someone that they are in danger, but they dismiss you. Eventually you will start shouting at them, trying to protect them. That’s what your body is doing.
But Hannah,
I’m not in danger
But Hannah, I’m not in danger
Do you know that or feel that?
But Hannah, I’m not in danger
Your brain isn’t just sending information out to your body telling it what to do, your brain is actually receiving information from your body and responding accordingly. So, if your body perceives or feels “danger” the brain reacts and alters unconscious functions in the body.
common “dangers”:
📆 project deadlines
😰 political anxiety
🥊 fights with your partner
😴 lack of sleep
🍞 hunger/thirst
😡 disliking your job/boss
You may notice that these are things you would label as “stress”. To the nervous system, stress = threat & threat = danger.
So how do I “listen” to my body?
So how do I “listen”
to my body?
We listen to the body by becoming aware of our bodily, or subconscious, experience.
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) I have specialized training in accessing the subconscious, or bodily, experience. I teach my clients practical ways to connect with their body that help decrease stress, increase comfort, and make sustainable changes in their lives.

I help entrepreneurs and healers access information from their body to identify unmet needs and unset boundaries to create sustainable business and marketing practices.
I support artists and designers wanting more access to flow state by teaching them an embodied design process which centers their bodily experience.
I teach professionals in high stress industries how to turn information from their bodies into sustainable self care practices that prevent cycles of burnout.
Everyone deserves
to be comfy in their body
Everyone deserves to
be comfy in their body
As we start listening we discover our bodies want inconvenient things- like rest. In a culture that prioritizes productivity and profit resting can be something you literally can’t afford. This is why systemic issues must be acknowledged in somatic work. We are all impacted by racism, sexism, ableism, colonialism, etc. and unpacking how we participate in, and even uphold, these systems is crucial for our collective wellbeing. I highly recommend reading Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey to further understand how systemic issues impact our bodies.
